-What does imbalance mean?

An imbalance of a wheel occurs when the axis of rotation does not correspond to one of the mass centroid axes. Poorly-balanced wheels can generate a critical condition on the vehicle:

The steering vibrates
More stress on wheel suspension and bearings
More noticeable vibrations in the interior
Physical strain on the body increases
Increased brake wear can result
Increased tire wear can result
Extension of the braking distance may be the result

-How to correct imbalance?

To fix imbalances, you need to measure where the uneven masses occur. Application of counterweights according to measuring results will correct static as well as dynamic imbalances. The wheel will roll smoothly and reliably even at high speeds.

-The six options for balancing

Balancing – Option 1

Balancing using clip-on weights for both levels. This type requires least mass for balancing. Most car manufactures use this option.
Balancing – Option 2

Balancing by using adhesive weights for both levels. The weights are affixed to the inner or outer side of the wheel in the outer-most positions.
Balancing – Option 3

Both adhesive weights are affixed on the inside of the wheel rim to the center. The external balance level is in this case transferred back behind the spokes.
Balancing – Option 4

The outer balancing level is relocated inside and the adhesive weight is attached in the rim center in the brake disc area. A clip-on weight is attached at the inner wheel rim flange.
Balancing – Option 5

An adhesive weight is used at the outside of the rim. It is attached to the outer-most position of the wheel. A clip-on weight is used at the inner wheel rim flange.
Balancing – Option 6

At the outer side of the wheel rim, a clip-on weight is used at the rim flange. An adhesive weight is used on the inside of the wheel rim. The weight is affixed to the rim center in the outer-most position.

-Assembly instructions

Clip-on weights
1. Selection of a suitable weight

Before installation, the weight matching the rim shape is selected. The build of the rim is used for differentiation. Before installation to the rim, apply the weight to check its fit.
2. Place the weight on the rim

Place the weight at the correct location of the imbalance. Before you knock on the weight with a hammer, make sure that the clip touches the rim flange. The actual body of the weight should not touch the rim.
3. Knock on the weight

After correctly aligning the weight, it is knocked on with the corresponding installation hammer. Do not use more than two strong hits for installation. Note: Increasing the impact number can damage the weight coating.
4. Check correct fit of the weight

We recommend a second inspection to confirm the weight is attached firmly after installation.

Adhesive weights

1. Preliminary work

Ensure that the weight, rim and ambience temperatures are at last 16 °C. Clean the wheel rims with a suitable cleaning agent to avoid grease and silicone residue on the rim (e.g. isopropanol 70%).
2. Adjustment of the adhesive weight to the rim shape

Adjust the adhesive weight to the rim radius with the protective film. The radius of the weight body and the rim must be at least in parallel to each other. It is even better if the radius of the weight body is less than that of the rim.
3. Removal of the protective film

Remove the protective film from the adhesive tape after adjusting the weight to the rim radius. Do not touch the adhesive tape before attaching it to the wheel!
4. Weight installation

Now press the weight against the rim from the centre towards the outer edge. The pressure should be at least 100 kpa.

1. Choosing the right valve

Choose the right valve as per the dimension of rim hole.

The valve stem should
not extend out the rim flange
2. Checking the rim hole

The rim hole has to be without grooves and damages, and has to be in accordance with the regulations of ETRTO.
3. Valve installation

Lubricate the Snap-in valve with soap water or a mounting paste to decrease the friction between valve and rim hole, avoiding the valves surface damage.

Use a suitable valve mounting tool. Do not stretch the valve to avoid damages. The pull-through of the valve has to take place in a straight line to the valve hole – do not tilt!
4. Valve inspection

Check the valve seat.

Inspect whether there is any damage or crack caused by installation on the valve surface.
